Wheel Deal

Lavorare piace – The Pleasures and Sorrows of Work

Michele Marziani, Umberto Dei: booktrailer

Dura in eterno. In acciaio. Per non rompersi”.

Autobiography of a bicycle
Last night in Rimini presentation of the book by Michele Marziani, Umberto Dei. Unauthorized Biography of a bicycle. Many people paying attention and involved. Here's a nice quotation from the story: "The bike has always been the mechanism most simple and most sophisticated ever built. It is almost the same since it was invented. Over a century of history without changing anything unless the materials. It moves millions and millions of people every day, on roads all over the world without pollution, without any fuel. Leads men, women and children wherever they want. Once you learned how to use it you’ll never forget. Anyone can fix it (...). The bicycle is indestructible. Lasts forever. Only one thing if it breaks can no longer be fixed: the frame. Therefore it must be strong and flexible. Steel. In order not to break."

Datemi una fissa – Give me a fixed gear

Give me a fixed gear
"I still feel that variable gears are only for people over forty-five.Isn't it better to triumph by the strength of your muscles than by the artifice of a derailleur? We are getting soft...As for me, give me a fixed gear!" (Henri Desgrange, L'Équipe, article of 1902). Quoted by
Sheldon Brown.

Rock N Roll!

Rock N Roll!
After riding the Cutter fixed gear bike we came to the conclusion that we wanted something a little more for our style (BMX) of riding which is definitely not the norm for your everyday fixed gear bike. We still jumped the Cutter and did the usual tricks but still wasn’t feeling too comfortable for that type of riding. We scrapped the bars and added the straight bars. The Creedence, named after the CCR classic rock band, is synonymous with this bike. Rock N Roll! Whatever your choice of terrain may be this bike can handle it. (www.tokyofixedgear.com)

Il cuoio è Vintage - Leather is Vintage

Leather is Vintage
Probably they are not the legendary Brooks knobs, but I think that those made by Cicli Blume for their Vintage models are all compared: hand-sewn and well padded for a safe and comfortable grip and for a considerable aesthetic taste and elegance.

Freno Pettenella - Pettenella's brake

“Giovanni Pettenella was the last gold medal of the Italian track. Today many people comes from Japan to see him in his shop located in another time in Via Semplicità, but we who live in his own country and in the same city, almost ignore his existence. It’s there still time to correct the shot. From piazzale Maciachini eastwards via Imbonati, ride under the railway bridge and continue straight on Via Pellegrino Rossi. The second street that matches your the right is called Via Semplicità”. (To be continued here in

Virgilio + bike polo

Virgilio + bike polo
Few days ago Virgilio published this article: "Hardcourt Bike Polo, all crazy for the sport of urban cyclists. Riding a bike, there are tournaments that combine metropolitan virtuosity on two wheels, sport and entertainment. Very cool and sufficiently underground, bike polo is the urban phenomenon of the moment. A bicycle, a mallet made on pourpose, a ball and an asphalted space under the wheels are the essential ingredients. The rest is done by the team, with good doses of cycling virtuosity, courage and fun. " (
